ANYONE BEEN TO LISBON FOR THE START OF THE DAKAR

I was thinking of driving down to Lisbon to watch the start of the Daker in Jan 07 :driving

Could anyone answer a few question's :bounce1

1. Is it warm enough to camp .
2. Can you get close to all the vehicles .
3. When the race starts , how long does it take the teams to reach the port .
4. Do they use normall roads and speed limits while in Portugal and Spain .
5. Can you follow them and camp close buy each evening .
6. Anyone doing it .
7. Anyone done it .

1. The competitors camp, but in big bivouac.
2. Yes, behind barriers in park fermé
3. Which port? Malaga was at end of day 2
4. Yes during liaison stages, no during specials
5. Yes to follow.
6. Yes, 2007, but probably not in Portugal/Spain
7. Yes, 2006

went to the start (france)4 years ago,as a mate lived near by, spent 2 days watching the checking of the vehicles and the race starting. you could get fairly close and could see all that was going on.

Clarmont Fararad , was that 4 years ago :eek:
 
Went to Paris twice in the late eighties, and watched the start from there ;)
