My 1150GS is leaking oil from the left hand fork. I am not sure if it leaking from the top or the lower seal as the oil is spread all the way up the stanchion but that could be due to the air pressure at speed forcing the oily smears upwards as the air rushes under the beak.

1. How do I check for certain where the oil is coming from?
2. Whether it's the top or lower seal is it a diy job to repair?
3. If it is diy does anybody have any step by step instructions on how to do it?
4. Anybody in the West Midlands area qualified/confident enough to give me a hand!!!!!

I have the official workshop manual but in the section on removing the forks it talks about "heating leading link mount at front to 120 deg C (248 deg F) and unscrew"! Yeah right!

If I do have to take it to a dealer has anybody else had this job done and what can I expect to pay?

Thanks
