Hello everyone. Just bought a 1200GS to allow for long distance travels and the Harleys I am used to do not rank very high in that category, or off-road for that matter! Still a little apprehensive of not having chosen a GSA vs a GS (can anybody point me in the direction of a good thread for that discussion?) but looking forward to putting the beamer to good use and probably meeting quite a few of you.

Hello!

My 1200GS is past 27,000 miles and we've been as far as Romania, through Lithuania and about 200 metres into Belarus .... and to Scotland

....so no worries about touring.

Wouldnt worry about it....

Maeter, as a newbie to ukGS'er and a relative newbie to BMW's myself ('05 GS1200) I wouldnt worry too much about your choice. Enjoy what you've got. IMO the GS1200 is a great bike, it does what I need it to do, that's all that counts Will post a picture sometime loaded up with soft panniers and jerry cans, not very pretty but hey, it did the job!!
Havent tried a GSA yet but looking forward to having a go on one
