What do you call a "pair" of airhead RSs?

A "brace"?

A puddle of airheads?:D

I honestly doubt you could find a better pair of airhead RSs anywhere.:D

The R75/7 RS is very special. Used for a daily commute from Plymouth to Bristol, it is a lovely bike with a mere 225,000 miles on the clock. It has had a FULL engine rebuild with many thousands spent on it and is up for the same mileage again.

The R100RS is very original.:) Not been restored or mucked around with in any way. It is pretty much as it left the factory in 1979 after having done a mere 45,000 miles. Still has the indicator bleepers ("causes blind people to jump out in front of you at crossings" per James Sherlock).:D Still has the original lock in frame.:) Paintwork is 100% original and very good.

Even Mr James Sherlock himself admitted that we had acquired a pair of real beauties with this pair.

They will both be fully serviced and lovenly cared for and will be on display at Gentlemens Weekend. Neither of them need more than a gentle clean and a tiny bit of TLC to have them MOTed and taxed and on the road shortly. Personaly, I can't wait to ride both of them on the local Devon roads.:)

The R100RS is going to be the perfect pattern for getting Pink Lady's R80/7 back together so we will have the perfect His & Hers Airheads.:)

It was only by helping Packer to get his R60 that we stumbled on these two beauts. A great result and everyones a winner.:)
 
They look very nice Sid. Looks like rs's are becoming the new gs. Been out on mine this morning and put in 120 miles. The fairing works so well I could do it again without thinking.

I'm planning on coming to the wee kend on mine.
 
Very nice pair you got there Sid. I have recently connected some loose wires under my seat of the R100T and nearly jumped off my own bike the first time I used the indicators again. All of a sudden there was a bleeping noise. I left it on and seems to wake up some dozy pedestrains around London :D

Pull the clutch in while indicating and the beeeeping should stop.

Sid, Take note of this. :rob My experiance of the Metzler Lazer tells me that one is the wrong way round. Wonder if the wheel has been put in the wrong way round.

They are also the worst tyre I ever fitted to my XJ900. Fortunately at 3500 miles a week, meant I didn't have to suffer it long.

Yeah I thought so too, It's something to do with the the lines being perpendicular to the road in a turn as a tyre guru type once explained to me whilst at the dealership

Snowflake wheels is correct pattern when mounted

I spotted the tyre was on wrong way [on Red 75/7]when we first saw them.
Plenty of time to replace the bugger as it's got sidewall cracks..
The brakes being typical ATE had decided to hold on to the disc for grim death :eek:
Soon sorted [as demonstrated to Packer] with a big rubber 'omma..:rob
Sids got the Silver/Blue one on the ramp now, so plenty of time to get the red one done after his one..
You all know how impatient Sid can be :augie:augie.....
 
I bet that was on the ramp before I'd turned onto the road last Sunday afternoon.

I think puddle is the correct term Proff, but only under very specific circumstances:augie

That would have been your wheel bearings shimming.

RS's seem to like the arse end in the air a bit as well. mines fitted with new ikons on the middle setting with firm damping, it handles very well, in fact surprisingly well for an airhead. I tried a couple of pairs of standard shocks but they were a complete joke and gave the impression that the back end was dipping all the time.

Years and years ago metzler advised against fitting ME33's to 19 inch front wheel BMW's.
 
It lives!

Stripped both carbs this morning and the smaller jets were both blocked. Cleaned everything out and good as new.:)

Nicked the new spark plugs from Pink Lady's R80 on second ramp as original plugs in R100 were rusty!

A couple of litres of fresh unleaded and it fired up nicely.:) Even ticked over smoothly.:)
Brake fluid light came on as expected as rear fluid was low so topped that up and that was sorted. All electrical bits work, lights, indicators, brake lights and deafeningly loud horn. Charging light staying on but I suspect that is similar issue to what we had with Kevin's bike and I'll need a bit of Proff's magic to sort that out.

Rev counter appeared a bit erractic, jumping around a bit optimistically.

Working through the whole bike its amazing how original everything is. All the little clips and fasteners are as per the factory. Lucky it has survived 31 years without being buggered around in any way. I fully intend to keep it 100% original. Only non-standard parts are the stainless steel silencers and they look perfect. I might swap a few nuts and bolts for stainless ones simply as I bought a job lot and one or two of the originals have a tiny bit of corrosion on them. Very carefully cleaning it all up and servicing it now.

Will give myself until end of April to have it fully recommissioned and on the road for 1st May 2011. Also working on the R80 rebuild using the R100 as a useful pattern.

Just came into house for a coffee but heading back out into workshop for next few hours.:)
