freezing fun!

started the bike today in -10 and had the ignition frozen on me, starter switch frozen on me (found this when i went to the garrage to fill up and it turned on by just turning the key :/ ) and the fuel cap frozen on me (so couldnt fill up) oh well, sorted all of that with WD40 and some time to defrost so should hopefully be fine tomorrow

but....

felt like the throttle cable was frozen also, and after giving it a few twists it freed itself but there was a slight groan lower in the engine and a small bang (like a backfire) but not from the exhaust, from under the tank i think....
any one got any clue? just something else freeing itself from ice? or somthing else?

how much wee does it take to thaw out an average ignition lock? I'm planning a trip on Saturday and was thinking of my prep list....

lots. you need at least 12 people to piss on your bike an make sure you get lots in the radiator an on the exhaust so it steams nicely when it heats up.
 
Under the fuel tank is the cable splitter box, which converts the single main cable from the handlebars into two cables ( one for each throttle body ). Inside the splitter box is a couple of plastic cams, it's possible they could be broken or the cable has become dislodged inside and requires re attaching. If your bike runs like shit with poor throttle response on one cylinder, you'll know for certain.

Just make sure the end of your todger does not come into contact with the very cold lock....

When defrosting the freezer I (in a moment of man-like enquiry into all things interesting) put the tip of my tongue on the metal freezer edge.... Never, ever, ever be tempted to do the same :eek:

Love this, almost wet myself when i read it. The things we do out of curiosity! Still, not as bad as trying to unblock a petrol lawn mower with your bare hands while the engine's still running. My fingers all stayed attached, but I won't be doing that again :blast

a sensible answer at last! it runs fine now everything is defrosted think the splitter box may have been frozen an the dis-lodged when pulling on the throttle, ill hunt it out tomorrow and WD40 it when its defrosted
