Llangollen 2007 - A toad's eye view.

great pics...looks like a good time was had by all :thumb2

Second Ford

It was then on to the second ford which proved trickier than was expected due to the slippery loose rock.

There seemed to be two different approaches.

Either you looked carefully, and planned a route through

150492197-M.jpg

or you just went for it . . . .

Guess which one Wizard picked . . . . .

That said, Mark wins the Tosser of the Day award in my book. He was never shy about giving it a go, and was always the first man there with the spanners when help was needed. I didn't need his spanners this on this run, but I know it's only a matter of time:thumb2

You can tell just how slippy it was from how many assistants it took to get some of the stuck bikes out.

150481044-M.jpg

150488800-M.jpg

This proved to be quite a moment for Jill.

150489071-M.jpg

Rooster Tails

150490183-M.jpg

Not quite Tuned In for this one. . . .

150491080-M.jpg

150491649-M.jpg

But even two up it's possible

150493515-M.jpg

And the spectators had a great vantage point. . .

150493769-M.jpg

It was then off to lunch at a little welsh cafe . . .

150529754-M.jpg

Mrs. T. is a hard one to impress though . . .

150529451-M.jpg

It was then the result of Jill's wet moments became apparent.

The cappuccino in the engine was not fresh Italian coffee, but something a little harder to swallow.

Now despite the various collection of tools that where assembled the sump plug could not be shifted. So, how do you get the oil out?

Get enough Tossers together and I'm sure you'll get a solution.

150530318-M.jpg

It'll drain out the top if it's upside down. . . .

150533679-M.jpg

Monkey loved it . . .

150531956-M-1.jpg

So, we went off to the next "ford" to find it was more of just a way of getting in to the river, and not much sign of any way of getting out.

It was at this point a local farmer came past and said he'd show us another one.

Fanum was the first to try. .

So, here's a quiz.

How many Tossers does it take to get Fanum across the ford?

Did he manage solo?

150537901-M.jpg

With a couple of helpers?

150538196-M.jpg

Three?

150538645-M.jpg

Five?

150539065-M.jpg

A bit more pushing . . .

150540397-M.jpg

And the face of relief. . . .

150540667-M.jpg

At least now we knew it was possible :yikes

It's fair to say it wasn't straight forward . .

150542346-M.jpg

150542596-M.jpg

OONYACK started well

150543938-M.jpg

Until he hit the water . . .

150544563-M.jpg

And a reverse exit was required. . .

150545079-M-1.jpg

Unfortunately this resulted in our second coffee maker of the day.

150551845-M.jpg

At least Rosie was having fun :thumb2

150549871-M-1.jpg

The exhaust needed emptying . .

150553829-M-1.jpg

It was a day of GSs in unusual angles . .

150554079-M-1.jpg

Bill looked concerned . . .

150554772-M-1.jpg

Mark looked concerned . . . .

150554998-M-1.jpg

Jonny looked concerned . . .

150555238-M.jpg

And then the face of relief . . .

150555470-M.jpg

It became clear BTBR was impatient to get off. . . . From what I hear he spent the whole day being impatient to get somewhere . :D
150454339-M-1.jpg

Very macho, and blakc seems to suit. Good to put a face to a name, Alan.

Dan - watch the videos. Get your feet on the pegs on a ford crossing and wiggle yer bum in the air. It helps.

Not quite Tuned In for this one. . . .
150491080-M.jpg
That's what happens when you paint a target on the side of your bike - local snipers step up to the task
So, here's a quiz.

That's what happens when you are a big boy!

And the face of relief. . . .
150540667-M.jpg
Now where have I seen that look before?
Good pics Dan:clap

So, only 3 fords managed, but a great time had by all.

Back the the Hand for beer, dinner, and loud shirts. . . .

150555967-M.jpg

And encounters with the local wildlife. . .

Look, no hands. . . .

150556642-M.jpg

Is that a bulge in your saddle or are you just please to see me?

150557030-M-1.jpg

Camera battery then went flat and so did mine. . . .

The really old boy with the white beard was Paul (Oblertone) and his good lady is Jaq (but she is in no way good, nor a lady )

Bill....you're a cheeky git.......:D

Nice to meet you, Dave...:) .....hopefully we'll see you again sooner rather than later......and Bill's right....you need to muddy your bike!!....:D :bounce1 :clap

Sorry to hijack your post, Dan......

Great pics, btw......:D :thumb

Hi Jaq - It's a forum, it's what it's for :D :D

So no worries at all.

Great to see you and Paul at the w/e, and we'll see you in Andover next I guess:thumb

Day Three

Having travelled up we decided to stay the extra day.

Didn't get Goblin back from Granny's until the Monday, so it was a day to be enjoyed.

We headed out solo up the A5 and down to Bala. At this point we stopped for a cup of tea and a chance to reconsider our route.

There seemed to be a machine gun somewhere spitting out plastic pellets at an alarming rate, so we thought we'd choose a route to avoid the dayglow warriors.

So we took the road down the north side of the lake, and then hung a right and took the pass over that section of Snowdonia.

150739618-M.jpg

I'm not sure how long the pass is, but we didn't see another soul for it's entire length. That's a bit more like it.

Sorry love, did I leave you behind?

150740515-M.jpg

The road ahead . . .

150740775-M.jpg

Getting a good view of where to go. . .

150741780-M.jpg

150742463-M.jpg

150742969-M.jpg

The views were great, and it was lovely to have the time to properly appreciate them.

150744769-M.jpg

Only small pain was the number of gates - about 10 in all i'd guess.

150745637-M.jpg

Monkey was still enjoying the trip. . . .

150746188-L-1.jpg

It was blustery and chilly up here. . .

150746491-M-1.jpg

But worth every minute. . .

150746994-M-1.jpg

Out the end of the pass and right towards Blaenau Ffestiniog.

Watching the weather closing in. . .

150747791-M.jpg

Arrived just in time to see the train arriving and turning round .. .

150747925-L-1.jpg

150747993-M.jpg

A quick bite of lunch in Betsy, and then back towards the Hand.

150748467-M.jpg
