Achill suggestion

Hi Guys,

I see with interest your upcoming trip to Co. Mayo, having a GSA1150 would like to meet up if possible.

May I suggest a trip to Killala approx 1 hr ride east along the coast, where my establishment The Tower Bar would extend a warm welcome to you all.

The route would take you through Bellmullet and on to Bellinaboy where some very interesting clashes are occuring between Shell and the locals over an onshore gas terminal. http://www.corribsos.com/

From there to Glenamoy, and on to the Ceide Fields where an impressive interpretive center takes you through the oldest neolithic village site in Europe http://www.museumsofmayo.com/ceide.htm

Then onto Ballycastle where at Downpatrick Head St Patrick is said to have clashed with the devil http://www.lookaroundireland.com/scenicinteractive/downpatrickhead.htm

11 kms further will take you to Killala where you can be fed and watered at the Tower Bar. A nice place to stay a night at the old deanery cottages, I would be happy to organise a traditional music and song session at the pub http://killala.mayo-ireland.ie/Deanery.htm

Returning back through Crossmolina, Bellacorrick into Bellmullet would take approx 1 hr

Some friends and I have completed a trip on GS's from Dubai through Oman, Yemen, Djibouti, Ethiopia to Niairobi in Kenya, check our website www.aroundafrika.com Our intention is to continue to South Africa in October. Who knows from there!

Best regards

Hi Mayoman & welcome to the site :beerjug:

Interesting suggestion ;) Unfortunately the ride-outs are all planned for the weekend. However, there may be some folks who would prefer not to take part in the organised rides & it could be an attractive alternative for them.

There's nothing stopping you taking a spin down to Achill & meeting us :D Either join us for a run or just kick tyres and talk b0ll0cks - most of us are good at that :augie

Hi Ambrose,

Will take you up on offer, what trips are planned? If the weather is good it's a great place should be great craic.

John had a nasty accident in Kenya between The Ethiopian border and Niarobi, slow to heal. Rest OK Thanks Bin

Apologies for the delay in replying Mayoman but I've been away :D

Sorry to hear about John, hope he makes a good recovery.

On the Saturday we've a longish road ride or the 'Minaun Challenge' (riding up Minaun mountain on GS's :bow ) hopefully combined with a bit of off-roading :bounce1 . Depending on who's around there'll also be a circuit of the Island on Friday afternoon or Sunday morning (or both ;) )

Plus there might even be a bit of  :steptoe :drinkinpa :beerjug: :steptoe :drinkinpa

See ya there :aidan
