Ms Cheek's and I headed off early Thursday morning for a wet run down to Larne and the Troon ferry, the Captain decided that as the weather in th channel was not the best he would leave 15 minutes early which caused some concern and a rush to the on board shop by many for sea sick pills.

They need'nt have bothered as it was quite calm even though slightly misty.

A gentle bimble with the odd shower soon saw us at the Green Welly for a break and a spot of lunch, I made the mistake of going for the soup and a cheesy pasty, I did'nt know it was a mistake until later that night when it was necessary to stay close to the facilities in our hotel. :blast

We met with a rather moist Jamie as we were leaving, he'd made a new friend in the toilets of the Carlisle Services on the M6 and had invited him to join us in Oontackistan. :augie

Would have taken a picture but we could'nt take our eyes off the Honda C90 with the Spanish plates ridden by a middle aged Oriental gentleman who put the rest of us to shame with his aftermarket luggage.

Just before we rode off he came back from the Outdoor shop with a tin of spray on water repellent and gave the lot a good coating! Hardcore!

At Fortwilliam we called in at The Lochy for a coffee and a chat with GC, 5 minutes later we heard a rumbling (must have been the cheese pasty from the Welly) and the Southern Tosser contingent arrived in search of sustenance.

The Lochy car park claimed another victim.

Coffee drunk we headed off to our overnight stop at Glenmoriston Arms Hotel at the bottom of Loch Ness.

Over pre dinner drinks Ms Cheeks showed off a pair of perky puppies!

We then spent an hour chatting with a journalist and photographer from Germany who were coming back from a session testing the 800 GS in Iceland, it's a dirty job but someone has to do it. :augie

Dinner was served and we headed for bed and an early night.

Friday

Friday dawned with clear skies and a bimble round Loch Ness as usual Ms Cheeks checked out the local wild life.

Heading for Skye we decided to take the ferry at Glenelg following GS's recommendation. He was right, the roads to and from the ferry where stunning.

Vehicles are driven on to the deck which is then manually rotated 180 degrees by the crew, allowing the vehicles to drive straight off at the other end. This ingenious design ensures that the ferry can be loaded at any state of the tide and that drivers never have to reverse.

Once on the Royal Isle we headed to the Stein Inn our location for the weekend, it appeared HRH had delivered on promises of a special ale.
