Is the F650 really bombproof? Some would have us believe it.. I want to believe it! I would be interested to hear about any F650's that have covered really serious miles and how they have stood up to the challenge, either with or without expensive repairs!? Hopefully the latter.

Brought mine october last year, just ticked over 12k with no problems. :)

Hasn't let me down once. Evan got me home on a snow filled ride down the
M1!

May 08 F650GS - now with 14.5k miles. No major hassles. Fuel sender unit and other recalls inc chain & sprockets (cheers BMW, old one was on its last legs anyway) done. My only gripe is the crap paint quality - rear swing arm paint flaking near rear axle, various oil cooler pipes around engine paint flaking, water pump housing paint flaking, fork stanchions paint flaking at front mudguard bolt positions, rust spot on both stanchions, rust on headstock at frame number under clear plastic cover.

13.5K on mine.

It's been to Spain & Italy in 40 deg heat, all round NI in rain, ice and snow and it's never once given any hassle.

Still can't think of any good reason why I'd ever change it.

Buy one - you won't regret it.

11,652 Miles here (18,748KM)

Had the bike from new, No real problems as yet changed the chain voluntary DiD. - original sprocketts, just fuel sensor etc recalls, paint ok all over. it gets lots of TLC

To many add ons to list here but 3 main ones (three S's) screen, seat and sound (akrapovoc can)

suits all my needs :thumb2 :D just off to put some more miles on the Puma. 6 days maybe 3K Here:

My friend has 18k on hers and its just come back from a trip to the Arctic Circle. Any issues have been fixed via recalls.:clap

30,917 miles on mine. Just did 6757 in 21 days. Had a new clutch the day before I left.

I have an engine problem (acceleration flat spot) at the mo which I have referred to in another thread. I will know more when it gets serviced. The bike continued to run with the problem for over 4000 miles and I did 1000 miles in just over 24 hours two days ago (Croatia to Calais), much of it at 90mph plus when in fact the engine felt most comfortable.

The side stand switch has been a pain at times. I'm on to my third one, and this one came loose on the recent trip, causing the engine to conk out on the move. I'm seriously thinking of wiring in a parallel circuit that will override the switch should I get a problem again.

The bike has had a fair degree of off road abuse on rocky terrain. I'm planning to do less of this in the future cos it all gets to bloody expensive replacing broken bits (including cracked bash plates and panels). I need to give it a bit more respect! What its perfect for is every day use and long trips which include rugged and broken roads. The bike has been to Turkey twice now, once with the previous owner.

If you have one, I don't need to say anything about the saddle. My mate couldn't lend me his Airhawk and I didn't have time to buy my own. What started off as uncomfortable became a crime against humanity. I ended up putting Compede plasters on my backside! After about 5000 miles I kind of got used to it. I think bathing in the sea helped heal the wounds. Should have taken my cycle shorts.

Had some tuition from Dean & Chad's mate Johnathon (Stormforce8?)@Ace cafe saturday gone. He brought his newly refined African-Twin in kevlar livery :drool I feel dirty sharing these images.

Now at 26,250 miles. 65+mpg.

Paint still flaking off - now underside of engine as well as swing arm, oil pipes, fork stanchions, etc.

Left hand heated grip just packed in.

Front tyre (Conti Trail Attack) has done 17,000 miles and still got a few thou' left.

Overall - one happy owner :thumb2:thumb2

Tell me about those wheels

from a previous post,rear is a 800gs and front is from a F650gs single

Yes as shapeshifter said, :thumb2 standard F800GS rear and F650 GS front was silver but Hagon black powder coated rim and hub and re built with stainless steel HD spokes with nickel nipples :D

There have been a few paint issues on the engine. I had a new sump replaced under warranty, although I did have to pay the labour (just out of warranty).

I should add that I'd used ACF50 ever since I got the bike.

I'm getting towards the 100K kilometers mark...
I had all the recall issues taken care off.
At 6000Km I noticed that the front brake was gradually getting worse, I had 3 front disk changes, and a new front wheel in the end.
The petrol tank vent valve did stop functioning (it corroded) and caused the tank to collapse (vacuum). The tank came back in shape afterwards.

I still like the bike, it has all you need...but...I'm thinking of buying a Yamaha Super Ten.
