Went to East Mids event ..

Left Zumo 550 in leaky pannier and bike out in the rain. ...

In the morning .. Zumo was wet and damp in the case ..

Plug into Zumo mount after a quick wipe down, but it won't work.

"Accessory not supported" comes up as an error message :(

Do I need to buy a new bike mount? :nenau

Works on the in car mount

Is it just typical Garmin reliability .. i.e. CRAP?

Or is there something that can be fixed without buying a new bike mount :nenau

Give the bike mount pins a good soaking with WD40 or similar, then some contact cleaner.

That's why they provide the rubber cover for the connector pins ....... :blast

It's like leaving your fuel cap open on a rainy night and blaming BMW when the bike doesn't work!

crap

Its just a crap design. Mine constantly gives bother and my bike is seldom out in the rain. I had to have the zumo replaced because of corrosion on the contacts. My last effort to keep it working requited cutting a sewing needle to replace the spring assisted contact.

Think this is posted in wrong area.

Nuvi 550 uses RAM-HOL-GA32 cradle with suitable charger from www.locatis.eu

Zumo 550 uses Garmin 'cradle' with AMPS fix pattern and uses RAM ball part (RAM-B-347) which attaches and forms start of the mount.

:blast the gps device is held in a cradle .. and its held on the bike by a mount. Sadly the word 'mount' is used wrongly even by the gps supplier who now call a cradle/holder .. a mount
