Random Guzzi Shit

Arsey, is the throttle on yours feel heavy? I’ve been told” they’re all like that” but I’m not so sure.May need to strip it down to find out why...........just wondered if yours was too...

They all do that sir.

Mine needs sorting, it’s got so bad the throttle doesn’t return properly.........new cables needed! For what they cost they are almost a consumable........

You’ll never get them super light but careful routing, and keeping well lubed goes a long way to helping. A common mod was to cut the throttle slide springs down a bit but TBH I don’t see that helping.

Thanks Andres,
I’ll service it in a few weeks and resync and the carbs and check everything including the routing of the cables, and renew if necessary.:thumb2

Martin "two Guzzis" Arsey.

With respect I know which of the two I'd love boss. The old one......

Enjoy them both in good health sir. :thumb2

I think it’s still up for sale, the price was subject to some discussion on here a couple of months ago.

It’s a real peach, and very well put together .

Morning!

I just saw this and thought of you........ I reckon the owner has finally sussed the perennial issue of cable routing on a Tonti framed Guzzi :D

:D........He must know something we don’t.

Triumph is just coming to an end.It should be back on the road in a couple of weeks.
Then The Guzzi will come in my shed for a little work. A service, carbs synchronised and an attempt on the cables to ease them a little. The ptfe lined ones sound interesting. I’m also going to sort the gearchange linkage which is as sloppy as a dick in a shirt sleeve, and finally sort the rear shocks, which don’t seem to have any movement in them when I sit on the bike...........it’s currently like a hardtail:blast so may need replacing............really looking forward to having a proper look over the bike :thumb and putting more miles on it this year.....:bounce1

:eek

:D
I'd be interested in what you do and where you get any parts ~ mine is the same.
On the plus side :confused: i can find a neutral between every gear if i want. :pullface :blast
TIA :thumb2

No false neutrals in my Cali Special, they are all real!

Kaister spurred me into action, to sort my cables, as it's been dire for a while and I just haven't got around to it  So, here we have one (of two) new cables and a job for the w/e. There's nothing special about PTFE lined cables AFAIA, they are the 'standard' Venhill 'Featherlight' cable; £30 posted for a pair which is pretty good I reckon.

Re the gear linkage, they are all like that sir (well, at least all the one's I've ever ridden are). I reckon the only way to improve it would be to get them to an engineering shop and get tighter tolerance bushes (or rose joints) fitted to all parts of the linkage.
Or, do as I did outside Bilbao last year when mine jammed into 2nd gear on the M-Way, stop for coffee and cake then scream obscenities at it at the top of your voice whilst simultaneously kicking the gear box. This warns the linkage that if it doesn't sort it self out toot suite then it is next in line for a kicking.

It works too, the gear change has been faultless ever since :D

Report back after the weekend, let us if you improved it....:thumb

Re. The linkage, I was rather hoping that some sort of upgraded modification had been designed and produced over the last 40 years:blast

Update: Just found this in the USA..........40$
