Airhead Rally Project

That is a lovely looking bike. In 10+ years of BMW bike porn surfing I can't think of a finer build thread. Nice work indeed. The entire bike is great but that is one awesome front end. HPN couldn't have done better. Looking forward to the Rallye report - in fact very tempted to come to Paris to see you off:thumby:

Fantastic Rick, the Bling Meister at his very best. :D

A very special bike indeed:clap

Rocky,

No offence taken!

Cost? If I added it all up, I could probably have bought a new GS, maybe (probably!!) even a 1200.

But I haven't added it up.

I don't intend to because:

a) it will probably scare me and
b) its paid for and I'm not bankrupt and I have the bike. ( who needs that new kitchen??)

This build was never about a budget, as I think I said in one of the first posts, it was about scratching that itch.

If you have read down to here you must have it as well and I don't really need to say much more.

As someone asked in an earlier post - does it ride as well as it looks, yes it does.
Does it make my heart sing, yes it does.

It was very cheap to build in my book.

Ride with a smile.

Cheers, Rick

Thats what I like to hear.... not about the money, but about a dream.

Enjoy the rally and ride safe:thumby:

One of the best looking and well proportioned Airheads i've seen.

Would rather have this over an 800 for a similar price.

Project

Many thanks for all the positive feedback from you all, hope you will all get to see the bike out there over the coming years!

Mikeyboy, the hose guides are std Trailtech items, but you net to get them from the US site as not available here in UK. (As is the mounting plate that fits on top of the light frame and used to mount the nav kit etc.)

Thanks again,

Rick! :beerjug:

I am now hoping that a lot of airhead-porn will come out of this rally

There will not be any porn between my legs, just my standard old bumblebee. But I can't wait to see CrazyIvan's and Rick's bikes together on the tracks......:thumby:

Envy , Lust , Covet , Theres only a Few of the deadly sins

I dunno how i missed this , WOW ,

I just love the fact you didnt talle up the cost. I like it , i like it a lot.

BTW, was there ever a final dyno figure once a new tyre was put on? Very interested in what all those lovely parts add up to from a HP perspective!
