A couple of forum members have asked me for some photos of the mods I've made to my Givi so that the RT's remote locking operates the Givi as well.

Remove the IR circuit board from the top box, connect white Givi power lead to remote system wiring, I took mine from the near side pannier. Job done

Thank you, quite straight forward then, The givi box looks far better than either of the bmw ones, can you get different coloured ones? Does the brake light work?

You can get slightly different finishes, mine has a carbon effect finish to the top panel but I may re spray mine to better match the 'bike.
The lights do work, I had mine wired to the 'bike's lights, on all the time with increased intensity when braking but, somewhat strangely, after a few rides I started to get a lamp out warning after a few minutes riding so now have the lights running as DRL's.

V47, V47N V47NNT??

2014 RT is on the way and I much prefer the Givi top box to the HUGE and HEAVY BMW version.

Remote central locking would be great.

Do I need to buy a specific V47 or the "N" or "NNT" variant, or do they all have central locking?

Thank you!

Hi Dave

Any of the boxes that you can fit the remote lock to should be OK.

Ron

Thanks Ron,

Next question......... sorry..

I've taken the Givi E193 plate off my 2011 model. At first look it doesn't seem to fit the 2014 LC rear carrier.

Did you get it to fit or do I need a different plate?

Thank you

Dave

Dave

That's what I thought when I first looked at mine (also fitted to an '11 plate RT) but when you offer it up and wiggle it about a bit it fits!

Ron

Fitted and works fine! Wonderful.

A bit of head scratching was needed but thanks to you I knew it could be done. I even modified the monokey rack to take the electrical connector from the bottom of the topbox.

Now..... what did you do with the now redundant Givi blipper.

I was wondering if it could be used as a spare for someone who doesn't has a remote locking system on their bike and wanted a spare blipper for their Givi box.

Question is... do you match the lock release to the blipper or the blipper to the lock release?

Rgds

Dave
