Iphone email issues

For some reason my iPhone 5s has stopped receiving emails. I can still send no problem.
I've tried uninstalling and that doesn't help. I've checked the settings with same account on the iPad and they are identical.

Any ideas

turn the phone off..leave for a minute then reboot it ...

I've tried turning it off over night then re starting to no avail

Have you tried deleting the mail account and re-entering it? Is the account on a 1and1 server? I had problems with that one.

Bit of a long shot but have you tried setting it to 'airplane mode' first. This will then force the phone to use wifi which gives more options when you go into set up. Worked when we first got swmbo's 5C and found the solution on an apple forum. Can't quite remember what the initial problem was though.

I have a 4s and this cures mine when it randomly won't recognise my e mail.

Managed to fix it by totally wiping and reload everything from the cloud
