Have used ESET computer security (NOD32) for quite a few years and its been brill, now changed to an iMac and the ESET is coming up for renewal.

Whats the feeling with you computer experts. Do I need it ?

I have no security on my MACBook other than what Apple supply.
I still have all my money in my Bank, which is in the UK and not Nigeria.
I get no annoying pop ups
Porn sites seem to load ok as well!!

ESET on IMac

I've got various iMacs/Macbooks and just got a Mac Pro and have never had anti-virus, never had any bugs/pop-ups etc. I asked the Apple guy when I bought the Pro and he said you don't need it - and it appears you don't!

Nah don't use any on the macs in ours, run them since 2006

i run the (very) occasional virus scan using clam-x which is free. never found anything on my very well used imac.

Go search the computer technical press for malware threats per operating system. There was more mallware released last year for Apple products than windows. I will see if I can find a link later. The report was misleading a bit but the message is still clear. As Apple stuff gets more popular it has attracted the attention of the bad guys. Another prime reason is that the owners of the stuff think it can't happen to them, it's only windows that gets it!

Many thanks for your input chaps, shan't bother at the present time now but if needed I know where to go. :thumb2

Security company bigs up computer threats. Who'd have thought?

Ive suffered from adware (Genieo) and pop ups on my macbook. Adwaremedic sorted out the Geneio problem, and Adblock helps stop most of the pop ups.
