Weathers kinda nice - time to ride!

A wee Borders birl

Embra - Peebles - Walkerburn - Selkirk - Melrose - Gattonside - A7 Home. An absolutely stunning autumn day. On the old bridge over Tweed near the confluence with the Ettrick, I watched a Heron floating backwards downstream then dive and come up twenty feet or so upstream and then repeat the exercise until it came up with the fish it was after. A perfect day for a ride.

Cracking pictures Pete. Your autumn colours are in all their glory, ours are disappearing fast and no sun to make them glow.

cool ride.. hmm pretty sure it wasnt a heron as they lurk at the sides and shallows and spear fish with their beaks.. not swim under the water..couldve been a cormorant/shag

Or a Goosander?

It being Remembrance Day and me not being a wage slave anymore, I took myself off to the Commando Monument at Spean bridge, taking the scenic route naturally – Ferness-Cawdor-Culloden-Daviot-FortAugustus

I was on the beachfront in Aberdeen this morning and it was like a summers day.

I was out and about Aberdeen and the Shire and it was beautiful. Great temperature and sunshine, in November!

Seeing as the wind isn't at storm level and the sun is out ;) . . .

Here is a view east over Lossiemouths east beach which has had next to no foot-fall on it due to the bridge, right of picture, being condemned nearly 3 years ago.
In the middle of the picture, just above the house roofs, you’ll see diggers in position starting on the foundations of the new bridge . . . in the exact same location that a previous Victorian bridge was built!

You might also spot some intrepid surfers in the river mouth, about to make their way back to the western side of the river.

And this is west beach . . . slightly less picturesque

Still some snow left on the Lecht so the ski centre is open for business - not the ski centre shown but the support vehicles storage/garage

And some tree damage/removal – saw whole sections of forestry plantations flattened but this picture was taken on the bendy bit of road near Kildrummy castle. Whilst it’s just conifers you can see in this picture, behind me was a whole stand of very mature beech trees that had been floored. They had all been cut & cleared, hence no picture

It’s unusually warm here at the moment

Last week it was -12°c, today it was up to 14.5°c

Took the GS for a spin to bed in the new brake pads, down to Le Puy, followed the banks of the Loire along to Retournac then cut across through Yssingeaux to Le Chambon sur Lignon, back through St Julien Chapteuil, Saint Germain Laprade and then home, about 2 hours of brilliant roads in all

The whole commune of le Chambon sur Lignon was made “Righteous Among the Nations” for the actions of the Protestant inhabitants of the plateau during WWII who hid and saved thousands of Jews, mainly children

Thanks to Global Warming  this year we have had (to date) minimal frost, so minimal horrible salt/grit shit on the roads too :thumb2
Took the GSA out for a wee 110-mile run, there were quite a few other 'bikers' out making the most of today's unusually warm weather. :moped:
