Hi, I am contemplating getting a 2015 Rt. Having previously having a Nav 5 on my 1200gs ( sold it :anger:) I wonder which sat navs fits the mounting plate.

Would I be right in thinking the wheel control only works with the nav 5. Also any suggestion to the best price for a new nav 5. I can get one at £518 from my local Bm dealer.

Steve

Yes you need the NAV V for the wonderwheel although not as many features controlled on the RT compared to the GS.

If you can get a Garmin 660 that fits the cradle and powers on, but no audio integration if you have the RT with audio pack and no wonderwheel control.

The nav IV also fits in the cradle and can be operated by the wheel but not to the extent the nav v can

Try sadjim from this parish as he works for Williams in Manchester - a gentleman, scholar and fine judge to boot!
He will get you the best price possible - and it is cheaper than you have been quoted - also sorted a software problem for me with mine during a service.

My only complaint is that it does not lock in position (even with central locking) so any tow-rag can nick it if it's left unattended - shocking oversight by BMW for a bike of this price if you ask me!

Quite agree, added a central locking actuator to my sat nav, stops the button from being pushed in to release the unit following a mod on one of the other forums.

I have seen a mod for this but cannot find it now - any idea where I can get the details wobble?
Cheers

That's the one, I printed it out for exact area to cut the arm, as the photos are almost 1:1 scale

Thanks for this..its taken me a good few minutes to work out what is what but pretty sure I have it now. Much appreciated. Will give me some piece of mind if I have to leave it on the bike for any reason.

Quick questions...This is the first RT I have had with nav v...can I ask a couple of possibly noob questions
1. Should the jogwheel work the zoom in and out on the maps?
2. I can't find the Mymotorcycle app. I read somewhere that it is only for the GS...Surely this can't be right?? It's one of the main reasons I bought the Nav unit..as I like to have tyre pressures up with external temp as well and alot of the other info on there as well...
3. What other functions should the jogwheel do with the Nav?? Should it automatically change the pages..allow me to scroll through destinations etc so I don't have to use the touch screen...I ask as mine does bugger all unless I use the Navigation page on the mode button on the left bar..and that is a complete faff and dangerous when riding. I only use the mode button for grips and seat and I have grips stored as my favourite so I hit the button up..adjust the heat with the wheel..hit the button down ..do the same with the seat..3rd tap gets me to the RT logo screen..all done without taking my eyes off the road..I'd like to keep it that way.

There seems to be no manual that I can find that shows the operation of the nav v in conjunction with the jogwheel...any help gratefully received as I have a feeling mine isn't working correctly....

Thanks

1. Yes, scroll to Zoom In or Zoom out on the green navigation page, then jog the wheel sideways.
2. It only works on the GS. May work on newer RTs. Mine is Oct 2015 and there is no"My Motorcycle"
3. You don't have to touch the screen except to answer the phone.. All the other functions are on the Green Navigation page. Scroll all the way up and down, there's more than the 4 shown on the display. If there is an arrow at the top or bottom of the green display, then there are more functions available. Zoom, mute, speak now, change page, display off and more that I can't remember.

Thanks for the reply..although I have to say if this is the case then the jog wheel is all but a waste of time…massively disappointed if I have to scroll through to the green navigation page every time I want to change something…I mean the zoom in/out are on different levels on the page for heavens sake..surely on the map page or when travelling using Nav just turning the jog wheel up or down should have the unit zooming in or out ???…I will take a look at the menu-navigation page tomorrow but I am sure the fields you mentioned are the only ones…hence my original question. I can't even re set the trip page function..scroll to media…change tunes…without sticking my fingers on the unit..the whole point of the jog wheel is supposed to be integration….doesn't appear to be integrated at all..hoping it isn't the case when I look tomorrow…

Thanks anyway

Just for info dudgeman...... I had the same issue with tapping through menus on the RT looking for the Nav page until I found the section in the handbook that advises how you can set the green Navigation page (or any menu page for that matter} as a 'favourite', thereafter requiring a single press to get to the Nav 'options'....

Apologies...... just seen in earlier post that you've already found the favourite button

That is correct BUT Sam Wray at Chainspeed recently fitted an Autocom to my 2016 RT.
I now get the 660 Sat Nav directions through my in-helmet headset, plus the audio output.
The wonderwheel controls the volume of this set-up.
I like it.
