Following on from the Champagne-Ardenne post and thread

Here's a very similar and equally excellent offering from the Auvergne tourist office.

Use it in much the same way to download all the information and the PDF's, you really cannot break it.

A quick surf about in Google by simply adding the word moto after Auvergne brought me to:

https://www.club14.com/avantages/balade-moto/page-1.html

Which may have some other ideas, too.

Rode through there a couple of years ago. It went straight to the top of my "come back and explore" list.

I did the same in 1995 on the way to Grenoble, stopping in Montlucon. Then stopped one night in 2014 in Le Puy en Velay on the way to the Ardeche gorge. Finally did a proper trip there this year, using La Bourboule as a base for 3 nights. A very enjoyable trip.

There's a similar but more low-key effort by the Burgundians, with a link to some roadbooks for the excellent Morvan region:

ETA: They don't offer GPX though - just old-school info
The GPX files are hidden in Wappings 80 virees a moto files, as the roadbook numbers refer to the Michelin 90 virees
1 of the 5 gpx files is in the central section
4 are in the North east section
© Michelin - Extract from '90 motorbike tours in France 2011'
Though looking at my copy of 100 virees a moto they`re not listed in it

Thank you for the link, Simon. It's exactly what I hoped would happen, bods finding and flagging areas with information available on line, at no or little cost to themselves.

Creating a route or GPX file from scratch is not that difficult. Failing that, old skool maps ain't so bad either.

I visit here every other year with our twinning association, stay just south of Clermont. I went further south into Cantal last year, very pretty with some decent roads and even a ski resort. Rode home in one day too, which wasn't too onerous.

Heading roughly this way on our travels this year, bit of a Whistelstop tour as we whiz through the Volcans, onto the Millau Bridge and then along the Tarn Gorge, across to Mont Ventoux and then around Gorge du verdon before a bit of the Alps and back via Doubs, Luxembourg and Ardennes.

We have used the Morvan a couple of times as a more interesting way of getting down to the southern end of the French Alps and that is also pretty good, I suspect after this trip I will want to come back and explore some more myself.

Spending a week there this June based by Lac Chambon.
NB - the links at the top of this thread seem to not work any more.

Yup, the bods have an annoying habit of closing down their websites, without telling me. The good news is that by Googling l’Auvergne a moto, I found:

https://www.auvergne-destination-volcans.com/bouger/itinerances-randonnee/a-moto/

https://www.sancy.com/destination/auvergne/activites/lauvergne-a-moto/

<iframe title="vimeo-player" src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/124606574" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The second link, to Club 14 does work.

Enjoy your holiday, it’s a great bit of France.
