Bretagne (Brittany)

Linear versus circular and circular versus linear, is always a challenge. Some bods want A to B to C (linear) and some want A to B to C to A (circular) Me? I'd find a decent spot somewhere near where many of the routes pass through (or close'ish to) and anchor myself there. I'd then fill in the gaps with a Michelin map. I'd guess none of the D and lesser roads are going to be hugely busy? Having a car, so you can at least drive to a sensible jumping off stop and return to it later, is a big advantage.

Enjoy yoir holiday

Thankyou :thumb2

Tbh. that may well yet become the plan as it would save a lot of faffing about and if we find a nice pleasant place to anchor it'll be worth staying put.

No problem.

It’s what I try to do when away on my bike or in the car. Find a spot on a crossroads where you can go in several directions on different days.

If you want to bicycle and like sea views then Quiberon (peninsula near Carnac) would be nice. Loads of beaches facing in varying directions. Some sandy, some rocky and an old port to have a look at. Terrain is flat so easy cycling.

All noted, thankyou gentlemen :thumb2

Wave if you spot a white ATAS. I’m here now and back next week . Most likely riding that very road on 24th .

Good place for a coffee in Guingamp before or after the run

Off to Brittany next Sunday for 10 days….. we decided to go for it as we’ve never been there despite having a house in France until recently. Many guys on here and elsewhere say how lovely it is, so we’ll give a go……….
We won’t be on the bike, but in the motorhome……..:blast so we were going to head for the southern/ western coastal area. I don’t need advice on the routes :D but a few suggestions on pretty historic coastal towns/ villages with lovely views, restaurants and bars would be appreciated.:beerjug:

Thanks….

Should be there myself for a few days in a couple of weeks before heading to Asturias for the annual trip.
When you say ‘southern/western’ coastal area, where are you meaning ?

It’s all pretty good to be honest.

Ploumanach is stunning

Thanks! That gives us some lovely looking places to head for. We are coming off the St.Malo ferry next Monday morning and were basically going to head South west towards the Vannes area, but with no real knowledge of where to actually stop for a couple of nights. We’ll then probably as you said follow the coast around staying a couple of days at each place. There’s a few great looking places there……:thumb
I’m not sure where your place is, but if we’re not far from you and fancy a few beers one night, we’re always up for that. Cheers :beerjug:

Many places I’ve not mentioned that no doubt others will .
Quiberon is lovely . Would be a good camping spot .

Just west of Vannes

I enjoyed Quiberon. I love the contrast between the rugged west coast and the sandy beaches on the east coast of the peninsula.

What are these areas like in the Winter time ? Are they worth visiting or is it dead ?
Cheers

Took some of Arsey’s advice, and started with a few days in Quiberon…….. lovely place.

Wife and I really enjoy Bretagne and found a fab place to stay near Baud. A couple from Redcar with a couple of lovely gîtes in the middle of nowhere and really good VFM. We paid €700 for 2wks last July.

Josselin is a lovely town on market day and was where our friend has a house they loaned us the key to, if we got stuck there for any reason. We had a look around and I really fancy buying somewhere in the area. This place came up recently and caught my eye…

Like others, we have found some really nice spots, and Locmariaquer is special, as is Arzon across the bay (amazing seafood restaurants, obviously )
