The Invasion Details

Accommodation Update

As of Friday last there were only 2 double rooms in Hotel and at extra cost some Superior Rooms. However I will investigate B&B's. As Anne in the hotel said we'll sort something. If not staying in hotel but want to join for Saturday dinner there will be a 25.00 Euro charge per head, payable on the Saturday.

Ferries booked and we will be having a quiet bimble back on Sunday and stay somewhere in the Wicklow Mountains on Sunday night. Ferry from Dublin on Monday afternoon.

If anyone has any recommendations of a good pub or hotel in the area let me know.

Likewise but for the way down from Belfast.

Without a doubt I would recommend the Wicklow Heather http://www.heatherhouse.ie/ in Laragh. Surrounded by nice roads, they do a crackin' brekkie and the restaurant is top notch too. I had a couple of bike mates over from the UK a while back and they stayed here on their first night. Nothing but good reports from them afterwards. I've also stayed myself during a cycling trip and would second that.

One word of caution though - it's a popular spot so get booking asap if you decide to go for it...

Any chance the ride-out could be tweaked to include #18 & #19 from this year's IPR?

Jaysus, #18 is 8km from the hotel, you'll nearly manage that yourself :p
#19 is not far from the proposed route but presents a logistical issue. But never say never ;)

Chris, for somewhere quiet I'd recommend Glenmalure Lodge. I've never stayed but their food is great. I'd often ride there just for the venison sausages :D

Or for somewhere more 'lively' try Lynhams. The Spring Event was there a few years ago & all the comments were positive. And again, good food.

I'm sure I could Jochen... I'd hate to miss out on the crack while I'd be away...

It was just a thought. I'm sure anyone who fancies hitting the IPR locations will probably do so on their way to/from the event.

Looking forward to this... :thumb2

Thanks mate and I'll take a look. I think I've stopped at the Glenmalure Lodge a couple of times for coffee.

We promise not to have any while you're away :D

There's nowhere nice to be sat outside of on a sunny day. If you've never ridden to the end of the valley I'd highly recommend it

Will anyone object if I turn up on my T120 Bonny instead of my old GS? I'll be doing a few jobs on it to tidy it up and it may not be sorted by then.
