Is that now a production model?

As lovely as it looks though (and it does look lovely and way better than an AT) you need to wait just a weeeeeee bit longer for the Orange 790.......

They're photos from Yamaha testing in Oz - not a production model. if it stays true to the design it'll be a toughie between it and the Orange beastie

Been waiting for this myself , looks pretty nice..
If its priced like the MT bikes , it'll be a fair bit cheaper than the KTM I would have thought...
I notice its SP colours which could mean a premium model possibly ?

It's good to see some decent competition at last and, what look to be more dirt (rather than road) focused bikes too :)

Along with the tasty carbon fibre panels.....

205kg wet

Less travel than the new Triumph scrambler

I like the look of this and the new Triumph - It will be interesting to see what price

72 bhp and 205 kg’s, looks ok I suppose, but sounds a bit crap on the vid. 215 miles on a tank so about 60 mpg from the 3.5 gallon tank. The yanks are well pissed because it’s too heavy, not enough power, not enough suspension travel, not enough range and they ain’t getting it until the middle of 2020.

As an off road bike it looks and seems fantastic but for me who would only really be wanting it for the road, it's a no from me, sticking with my ATAS.

Agreed, I’ll have a test ride, but it doesn’t seem to any of the road bike extras (TBW, cruise, rider modes etc), but you can get panniers for it. I’d say it’s going to have be a very good price, otherwise I think most will be looking at the 790.

The Tenere has bit more at the front but the same at the back . I would have thought it would have had a lot more but it doesn’t. The 1200 triumph looks ok but just a styling exercise? Tenere looks like you could stand on the pegs all day trail riding .
I reckon the the scrambler will cost £2/3000 more ?

thats nice I like that but I dont see much to tempt me away from the 990, only 72 bhp and 205 kg’s, I just dont see any advantage, way less power, not much less weight, where is the progress?

Well latest from EIMCA and Yamahas website means it appears that the 'new' Yamaha Tenere 700 will be a mid 2020 production model !

Think they have well and truly missed the boat on this one as their development time seems to be rather 'glacial', I remember talking to a Yamaha main dealer over 3 years ago where they had heard solid (official) rumours of early prototype MT07 engine based Tenere's being tested.

By 2020 Yamaha will not have had a bike in that sector of the market for 4 years (xt660z was discontinued in 2016), and in the meantime the new BMW's ,Triumph 800, KTM's and others will be on the market.

I think it’s mid 2019 for Europe and mid 2020 for the USA.

Does seem very strange for these manufacturers to show early concepts, then take years to launch them! I know it takes time to develope a bike, but why show a prototype, then draw the product release out several years. It leads to disappointment and frustration from the customers, who then maybe buy something else. I preferred the old days, when the manufacturers used to spring a great surprise at the shows.

Mate has one on order for May delivery I think.

...don’t think you’re looking at the right Triumph https://www.triumphmotorcycles.co.u...crambler-1200/scrambler-1200-xe/specification

250mm F&R

Agree it will be more ££££

....some interesting bikes on the horizon with the T7, the Triumph and the V85
