TAT 2018 on a GS Rallye

When I've done this before, we started about 100 miles north east of Knoxville TN. Has he changed the start point?

Yes, the start is now in Marlinton WV. Sam is moving the start further east gradually.

We stayed at that motel last September when we where riding the TAT. We started in Andrews.

Little guy decided to go on door duty

Our plan was to source new tyres on route so we messaged Jay to ask him if he could do some research and find out what was available. Plenty of wear left for now though.

FUEL
As ever, the first priority was fuel for us and the bikes.

We stuck to the highest rated fuel available which in most places was 93 octane, sometime with 10% ethanol. In this case at $3.569 per US Gallon, I'll let someone else convert that the UK measures. Our bank cards didn't work at the pumps so we had to do the prepay dance. I normally just added $10 at a time which would take the gauge back to full and save me having to go back in for change. We got quite proficient at guessing how much we needed to fill the tank by the end of the trip. I typically had half a tank left by the time Russ needed fuel.

A quick read of the local Autotrader over breakfast - anyone fancy a DC9?

Great RR. Those videos definitely make me yearn for this sort of thing even if practically I'd probably end up doing a few sections in the midst of a longer more road oriented ride. Nice to see a large modern machine doing title too which makes me thing an R100GS would be very capable of getting through this.

Really enjoying this:thumb

It's a cracking looking bike to be sure:augie Love it!

We'll have to add the TAT to the bucket list:bounce1

Hope Jay is recovering well, bummer to end the trip like that:(

TAT

Please please finish this sir

It will be a great help to us looking to do the TAT.

Kind regards
