Thanks for the pictures, wish mine had all been in one piece

You can get bolts and brackets re-plated in zinc no problem and quite cheaply. But if it’s is just a plain bolt buying them in stainless steel from ebay is an economical option. Grease stainless steel before putting them into alloy because they can corrode in pretty quickly.

Don't throw anything away!

Been polishing today, Frame and bits at the powder coaters, tank is at the painters, so i am going through the bits that need cleaning and polishing up. Like i said i don't want this to be a garage queen but a really nice sympathetic resto.

Exhaust is unobtainable so i needed to clean it up, it looked pretty rough but i was very surprised how it came up, below are some before pictures.

Nice work there, has a look of stainless headers on my F700. Coming along well

Steve

Wow! you've brought that exhaust back, you wouldn't think it could look that good!

Coat it with ACF50 and that will neutralise corrosion left in the bottom of any pitting.

The gearbox sprocket would be a good starting point :D

My dad took me to the Earls Court motorbike show when I was about fifteen. (C1961) There was a red Garelli on their stand, oh how I lusted after that 'bike. Dad couldn't get me off it. He often reminded me of what the guy working on the stand said to him ...
"If it was my bike to give, I'd give it to him, just look at him"

:beerjug:

Gearbox sprocket was not welded on Micky! I think i got a good one mate!

OK, waiting for the frame and all the bits now, so i had a go at cleaning up the brakes.

Heres the front brake before...

Those front brake linings look a bit dodgy, but maybe the brake doesn’t get much work :D

The tank is being painted this afternoon, here it is being prepped. It had a couple of dents in which pulled out using a special dent puller.

Now the real magic starts as the butterfly emerges from the crysalis. Looking forward to this.

Theres a nice little Gilera ( not Garelli) here, top money too.

Steve
