Garmin GPSMAP 276Cx

A raster map like GB Discoverer is dreadfully slow on the 276cx
To the point it's almost unusable
A vector map like city nav is still slow but usable
Pity about this ...Garmin have ruined what should have been a great GPS with a very slow processor

I use the Talky Toaster maps and they work great !! :)

Resurrecting the thread, one question for Warlord.

Have you tried using the talkytoaster maps for road routing?
I'm considering buying the full British Isles.
Will use them for greenlaning on an old 60csx. So 95% of the time I'll be just following a track (as I did unti now on the 396 and XT using a similar set of non-routable maps) no problem there.
No calculations, I just follow the line superimposed on the map.

I just want to, at the end of the day, select my home waypoint from wherever I ended up to :D and get it to (roughly) guide me home.

Martin (Talkie Toaster) says that his 1:50K look n feel maps shouldn't be used for road navigation. But I'm trying to understand if he says that to warn people who wants to buy his maps in lieu of the City Navigator ones. And understand if maybe some occasional road nav use is possible with those (preventing the nav from routing offroad, etc).
