We pre booked, as we were one night in various stops on a tour. However it was June so holiday season and plenty of space for tents. We didn't pay in advance just booked space.

Beginning of June for me I just got a cabin for me and the wife as mates where staying in same place, camping was not full, it was on a Wednesday though, maybe it is more fuller on week-ends, but that I really do not know.

I love this place, just outside the Black Forrest. There is a free ferry that takes you over the Rhine. Really cheap, but with excellent facilities, even a nice lake to swim in. I stayed there last year on the way too and on the way back from the Alps. Will be staying there again this year. No need to book in July.

There's a place near Seebach whose name I can't recall but it may be a gasthaus.

If you are etravelling further south there are a number of campsites west of Titisee. I usually stay at the bankenhof when I'm down that way. Good facilities. Close to todtnau if you want to ride the alpine rollercoaster.

Cheers lads.Looks to be plenty to choose from.As long as there is a boozer nearby i will be happy.
