RH Specialist Insurance

I've just been going through the annual joy of getting quotes as my current insurer puts through a daft increase.........

Four bikes and a £650 premium to renew (a 25% increase).

I phoned RH, they were dead helpful, really straight forward, no hard sell (kit cover, legal cover, bollox cover etc.......) and promised to email me back within the hour with a quote.

They kept their promise and a premium of £380 (including Euro breakdown).

I'm very happy :)

Great news

That is what I like straightforward and no nonsense
If they were slightly dearer I would still use them as they offer VFM

I recently took out a multi bike policy with RH and was very pleased with the deal. Within this policy, the cost to insure my 2016 "1200 GS TE" being £244.00

The policy is due to begin on 11th September so not in effect yet, though I have all the paperwork. But since taking out this policy I decided to trade in the GS and buy a new "1250 GSA Exclusive" that I collect on or about 27th September.

Contacted RH to check what the additional premium will be to make this change and they came back with an increase of £473.00 in addition to the original £244.00.

I phoned BeMoto who had previously quoted for the multi bike policy and they will do the change for an additional £150.00, so the RH policy has been cancelled without problem and now with BeMoto for the three bikes.

Be warned, check the costs before making any changes.

They don't do modern bikes and will only 'accommodate' them if you have an older bike as well...............modern bikes aren't their specialist area or 'risk appetite'

RH are sometimes touchy as regards brand new, high value bikes. It is just the way they are. They had a challenge with my (at the time) new K1600GT, not helped by the garaged accumulated theft risk of several bikes in central London. It partly explains why bods in London are getting ‘No quote’ returns from Devitt under the BMW Motorrad branded policy. The insurer for the product is ERS, Equity Red Star, a Lloyd’s syndicate, part of the Hiscox family. Insurers of the BMW Motorrad branded policy have come and gone over the years, I can recall, Cornhill, NIG and Allianz, to name but three. No doubt someone will come along after ERS, too.

They were happy to set up the original policy as it included a 1980 Ducati Darmah S.S. plus a 2002 Blackbird. The quote for the 2016 GS 1200 was very fair but it was a shock getting the quote for the GS 1250. However, the overall terms of the policy they originally sent me were great and they covered the Ducati on an agreed value of £11,000 without extra cost.

New BMW 1250's are becoming uninsurable

Approached them for a quote but they were not prepared to cover me for IAM observer riding. :( The viewed this as being the same as motor cycle instruction .

Following their praise on this here thread I've now joined the RH gang.

Insurance of one modern and three oldish bikes now moved from Carole Nash to RH at a cost of £224 and 94 pence.
