Anyone know of somewhere within half an hour or so of Calais? I'll be travelling from North West England to South of France. I'm planning to get get to France on my first day via the tunnel. I don't want to stay in Calais itself, but I would like somewhere within an hours ride. Just a B&B or small hotel but with somewhere to park the bike. Any suggestions appreciated.

I tend to use the Kiriad in Saint Quentin, it’s about an hour and a half from Calais and just off the motorway so you don’t lose time

Parking is safe and there is a Buffalo Grill 100 meters away or other stuff close if you take the bike

I use this place, BIKERS LOFT GROENEDIJK - 1hr & 60 miles from Eurotunnel or Calais ferry port and 45 mins from Dunkirk.

Cheap basic accommodation with bikes inside and warm.

There's a choice of decent places in St.Omer.

Stayed here a few times on my way back to UK, secure parking for 2-3 bikes, good food, clean rooms, not part of a soul less chain.

Logis Hôtel la Bonne Auberge, 62340, near Guines. About 15 mins from Calais

Give these a try, fabulous enclosed farmyard, secure parking, converted barn into twin dorms and several other B and B suits
Hosts are brilliant and it’s pushed as a biker venue. We use it all the time and it’s just down the road from Agincourt battleground
Nice, clean and comfy what more could you need

Yes. Ibis Budget is where I tend to go. Secure compound for the bike. Cheaper than the posher Ibis in the centre. 10 minute walk past the cathedral into the main square where you have a load of places to choose from for food. My favourite is the Flemish restaurant 3 Caves (or Drei Kalders in Flemish)

It’s a lot better than the Ibis in the middle of town.

The parking area is much larger, there are two fully automatic petrol stations just a couple of streets away, whilst access to the main roads to get out of the town are better if you have several bikes in a gaggle behind you. Not least, it’s cheaper.

Holiday Inn Coquelles, safe parking good hotel, away from the trouble, and just down the road from the Ferry and Eurotunnel.

Any of the hotels in the complex at Coquelles would be my recommendation and security is never an issue because there are usually heavily armed French police wandering around between spells of duty fighting off the foreign hordes that want to invade our fair shores. The car park at the Ibis also has the gate locked and though you could wheel a bike between the hotels those Gauloises puffing, coffee swilling cops would certainly take an interest.
