I would complain to whoever did that job. Your shoe is still dirty....

I don't know how you lot have the patience to do something like that. I wouldn't, but then I have never had the facility to tackle those kind of jobs either.

Cheers King Rat yep it's a labour of love.

Really enjoying this thread. Partially stripped and cleaned my gs after purchase, but have never gone that far on any bike. This could be better than 'Shed and Buried'. :clap

Cheers oldman 19
Appreciate your sentiments not much to post lately still stripping engine and have other associated bits to do.

ongoing project

just an update on some progress, cylinder barrels before vapour blasting and after spraying with VHT and baked at 120c for an hour an a half.

Rocker cover after dipping and final rub down prior to painting still have to figure out how to rub down around cylinder head bolt area without compromising integrity of the rubber washer

update

Engine and front casing finally finished after wire brushing sanding , they both now have 4 coats of paint.
Left the "bullet holes" in the bottom of the alternator cover for character and also figured it would be only a matter of time before what ever filler was used would be knocked out again.

more progress

Wheel hubs just got a tarting up for the moment as I have a £1500 bill from motorworks for parts on the credit card so full wheel refurbishment will have to wait a little longer. Top of the engine before and after

You're doing a brilliant job here but it's an effing disgrace that a reputable manufacturer can sell bikes that deteriorate in such a way. Not really fit for purpose.

16 year old bike stored outside not surprising it suffered, nothing to do with the manufacturer. Brilliant job in bringing it back to life.

resto

Cheers lads for your support really appreciated

About bloody time someone did an oilhead rebuild. The site has been missing one of these for some time.

Top effort dub.
