Barn find - 1994 Strada 1000 - recommissioning.......

4 hours to take apart, grind off the deep rust.
Then buff with wire & sand paper rasps on my cordless drill.
(Garage sadly hasn't got mains leccy ) :(
What a complete ball ache.....

Everything was rusted on, especially the circlips.
( And have a guess who's lost his circlip pliers) FFS :blast

I'm sure the back end was sitting in dampness at some stage, going by the corrosion, front of bike far less.

Grind first.
Then wire rasp.
Then sandpaper rasp.
Then mask up & cut round the part where the disc pads have contact.

Now ready for repainting Monday.
My arms / hands have had enough this week. :(

Plus my trusty Panasonic cordless drills need a rest.
They've certainly paid for themselves over the 20 yrs I've had them, only ever needing 1 new battery each & fully recharged in 15 minutes . :bow

Darn costly new..

I bet my new DEWALT drills won't be as good.

But going forward the Panosonic drills are to heavy for me to hold now. :(

That's not mine, that is opposite mine, luckily it's empty in the day & I can use it.
Which is great as its South facing & gets the sun all afternoon.
Mine is pretty full with a X Country up front & the Guzzi on the bike lift..

Some days it just takes hours to do the smallest of jobs.
Rear brake disc bobbins & parts refurbishment - sand down, buff, re sand with fine emery paper & then re paint...
Small, tiny, fragile & near impossible to replace parts aren't fun with my mitts.. :(
