Barn find - 1994 Strada 1000 - recommissioning.......

Bollox... :(
Went to put new oil filter on & it wouldn't scew on.
Its the correct filter according to all the books / internet. :nenau
Measured spigot - 19mm
Should be a 14mm spigot.
Rang gutsibits & 19mm is an 1100cc sump :duno
You just never know.
So that's today task postponed until new filter arrives..:blast

Glad the down pipes have come up ok. :)

Saves me having to buy stainless replacements, which are ok.
But these are double skinned & quality items.

Bearing in mind the bike was left 1/2 covered from 2006 until 2019.

God knows inside or out, wet or dry.
Unloved & never run.. :(

I always do it outside, as it's a messy job.
And will make a mess in your garage / shed

You'll need to seal them, otherwise within a couple of weeks they will look like the LH One again

Never sealed a set of Guzzi rocker covers in over 20 yrs of owning them.
A good alloy polish every so often, that's all they need.

Maybe a yearly re polish, using the kit if needed.

Easy job today...

Forgot 2 put newspaper under the cardboard b4 I sprayed. :(
So had to get the thinners out & clean it orff :blast

The silencers on the Guzzi Strada are u/s.
Stainless replacements are circa £350 - £450, even chrome are that sort of price.
So I've been on the look out for a used set.

My phone pings Sunday am as a set came up on eBay, for £120.

SITO replacement chrome silencers ( now owned by Leo Vance ) came off a T4.

Bought them straight away.

Little bit of corrosion on the back near the mounts, but I can treat that & touch up with galvanized paint.
As it's on the back it's not visible..
But in sound condition.

Arrived this morning.

Luckily Guzzi used so many parts across the range of 950 / 1000 cc bikes over many years, that were the same.
Silencers for the main were ethier flat or upswept & the same size.
Using the same 42mm bore.
So easily interchangable..

Well pleased..

Been watching Guzz silencers on eBay since February & it's the first set that's come up 4 sale...
So well pleased & just goes to show if you put a watch on items your after on eBay, you can get lucky.....

Ash,
found this / thought of you.
Take away the angle grinder and add your "wheels" - might save a few bob? :nenau
