Barn find - 1994 Strada 1000 - recommissioning.......

Just caught up with your posts on the refurb Ash, absolutely brilliant, and an inspiration, think I'll have to find myself another Guzzi to fettle, mind you not done that since parting with my V50 over 35 years ago

Well done

Really enjoyed reading this thread and following the progress. Top work Ash :okay

Many thanks Kevin.. ;)
Obviously all on hold at the moment. :(

Other than electronic ignition & exhaust silencer brackets made, painted & fitted.
As the used silencers I bought were originally from a T4 & are not upswept like the original Strada silencers.
Which is fine by me as I have a set of SP3 GIVI racks & panniers to go on it..

As in piccies... :thumb

R u all sitting comfortably....

I'll begin.....

Last week a set of Lafranconi 13 silencers came up 4 sale...
Taken off a 1994 Strada 1000 after it had ' doctored ' :(

The correct pipes, slightly upswept....
which should please Tarka

Up 4 auction or offers, I use my 3 offers but no joy..
But the seller listed a Harley 4 sale with his fone number on the add.
So i message another offer, he rang me straight up & excepted my offer..

We got chatting & he said he took the Guzzi Strada in a part ex & it had the OEM silencers on it still, but he had some different one's that he preffered.
Hence listing them 4 sale.
He also went on to say he had most of the parts that came off it.
Again came with the part ex.

And he wanted to shift the lot in one hit.

He roughly tells me what he thinks is there.
I say yes, he'll take some piccies to confirm what there & condition..

We had agreed a price of £150 & £15 post for the silencers..

He then says £250.. :yikes :yikes :yikes. :bounce1

I nearly said plus the silencers, but luckily stopped myself.. ;)

First piccy is the list of part purchased..

The rest tell there own story..

My fuel tank has scratches.
The front mudguards paint is flaking off the plastic construction.
My seat needs recovering

The items I bought are all in great condition, so will be a straight swop.
The purchased indicators are better than mine as are the hand grips.
And a few, other items I will swop over...

And the rest can be boxed & put in my loft for Ron.. :D

Talk about a stroke of luck, very few Strada 1000's came into the UK.
To see another would be extremely rare, but to be able to steal so made good usable parts off another one, must be one in a million.

Its not all luck az I keep me ear to the ground, scour eBay & other platforms for parts or projects.
I always put a watch on eBay items in after or interested in..

Now a few years ago i saw a Strada 4 sale on eBay but wasn't in a position medically to buy it.
But the seed was sown.
Now the doctored one waz bought via eBay a few years ago & as I've never seen another one on eBay, maybe it waz that one.
Who knows :nenau

So I now have more parts than I could shake a stick at... :blast

Sometimes just sometimes the stars align & on this occasion they did...

Happy you bet your arse I iz..

Rather nice actually

The silencers on the bike are the one's I've just bought.. ;)

The guy that had or did the conversion spent rather a lot of money. :blast
But fell in love with a 59 or 69 harley that the guy I purchased the parts off had 4 sale..
And had to have it..

Been there done that :blast

My intention was to always put stainless silencers on the old girl..
But as I bought that job lot of Strada parts, I thought they could wait.

A mate messaged me earlier about a set on eBay ending tonight.
With only £51 bid... :duno

I stuck a bid of £110 with 6 seconds left & won the auction at £102... :JB

Got Strada silencers coming out of me arse now. :blast
But at that price it would of been rude not too.. :D

could it be as simple as the location they were made ( as in Staffordshire) Old cutlery is marked in a similar way if i recall

My bargain Stainless silencers turned up today.
Beautifully made.
Smaller than standard, which I like.
Each one is 2 odd pounds lighter than the Lafranconi's.
Well pleased...
And will polish up a treat..

Certainly couldn't of got the standard units chromed for that price...

There’s something very pleasing about a bit of polished stainless steel.

Running lovely..

Such a wallop of power, when you wind the throttle.
Compared with my BMW F700GS..
Wooooosh..

Jeez Ash your hands must be either getting stronger or be bloody sore after all this sanding and polishing

Great work :thumb
