Royal Enfield Interceptor

Took a demo out today .
Very very impressed.
The motor is very nice . Not fast obviously but in no way slow. Pulls from 30 in 6th .
The clutch is very light and the gearbox very smooth . It rides MUCH better than I expected.
Suspension is a bit choppy but it’s a £5k bike FFS .
A few budget finishes and the dummy shock reservoirs would annoy me .
It sounds throaty on the stock silencers .
It’s the kind of bike you buy then do nothing to spart from douse it with ACF50.

Looks nice in silver; and have you also been testing a Ural hack. :beerjug:

The Missenden Flyer likes it as well. Haven't seen a bad review of it yet either in magazines or online forums. Apparently they are flying out of the showrooms and there is now a waiting list.

I was told 10 weeks last week and the demo had been sold, so I have to wait another couple of weeks, but I will probably look at one in Porto next week.

I just brought one and for £5500 I can't fault it also has 3 years warranty its gotta be right.

Thanks for posting the magazine article - really interesting.

I agree the indicators are a bit nasty but I think you could have fun replacing bits like that with period lucas items, same for the rear light and maybe some Konis...

Whatever you choose, it sounds like a great starting point, at the very least.

Very true.
But if you start spending on it ,it’ll soon be a £6000.....£6500.....£7000 bike.

If it didn’t have those fake shock reservoirs I’d be very tempted to order one but I know they’d piss me off.

Love the look and idea of one of these. Also like the Moto Guzzi V7 - essentially a bike that isn't bloody huge and loaded with unserviceable electronics. Might have to get a couple of test rides.

They look especially good with the black Guernsey plate!

I’m trying to like it but if TMF is right it needs a 400 quid service every 3000 miles
..................

I'm sorry but I can't watch that as I can't stand the TMF (or other VBlogs TBH, it's nothing personal....) so what is it that needs doing every 3000 miles that costs so much? I can't imagine that there isn't anything on a bike like that that can't be done by a half competent home mechanic?

Just deleted my post, it seems he had made a mistake and corrected it in a later video, it’s not that bad after all, but you’ll have to watch this to find out :D

You’re right about the half competent mechanic but the synthetic oil is apparently expensive

I was being lazy too....... Just checked on line and the service schedule is pretty average.

Oil, filters and tappets every 10k km

I was speaking to the RE product manager at the weekend whilst looking at the bike and i mentioned that to him. They are real reservoirs.

Pity the dealers don't know that, I was looking at one a few days ago and the dealer said the reservoirs were fake, just for looks :) If they are real, they look fake - lol
