New Goldwing

The old GSA plan keeps rearing its head.

So new in May'19 and 3,500 miles.

Can anyone suggest a fair selling price?

I was thinking £17,900 - £17.500.

Paid just over £21,000

No idea, but...

£21,000 less
20% tax = £ 4,400
10% Depreciation = £ 1,600
Dealer resale profit = £ 2,000

So I'd say a dealer will offer you around £ 13,000 to £ 14,000

Private Sale around £ 15,000 to £ 16,000

Maybe more if you can get someone with that sort of money to throw at it....

I think your estimate of £ 17,500 to £ 17,900 would be the dealers sell target.

Offered with finance, warranty, service, px trade in, etc...

So after shuddering at the thought of becoming a pipe and slippers Goldwing rider (I even hated the looks of the huge things), I was bored at work and thought I'd go and try a couple of Harleys or maybe even a K1600B.

None were available today, so I drifted over to Bill Smiths Honda to look at the new Goldwing Bagger.

The only Goldwing available was the big one armed with DCT.

Anyway they allowed me out for a decent test ride and so, rather terrified of dropping the bloody thing, I slowly pulled off the forecourt.

The size disappears as you set off although I didn't like the DCT from the off as it was a little juddery leaving the dealer, but that could just have been down to me being rather wary of the DCT.

Anyway this thing is so comfortable and I soon settled in to the ride although it did feel rather cumbersome on the twisties and you needed a co-pilot to fathom out all the controls on the bars.

I dare say that some folk are happy to throw these thing around - but not me today anyway.

Overall, I was impressed and am quite tempted by the Bagger version.

I can't get comfortable leg wise on the K1600B but this bike was much better.

I was glad to be back on the GSA for my final ride before it goes to the new owner in Portugal, as it is far more flickable in my mind.

But would I buy one - quite possibly in bagger style - manual of course. I just prefer to be able to change gear when I want without fannying about with the oh so many buttons and switches.

Has anybody else tried one?

What did you think?

I contemplated it last year while I had mentally settled on the RT and tried a manual one as DCT is not for me from my horrible Integra experience.
In a nutshell I liked it very much and tbh it felt a better quality product in the detail than any bmw (cabling, welding details and general feel). Engine lively and lovely too, possibly with a better, more raspy Porsche esque sound than the k16.
But ultimately like others have commented, it felt as top heavy (or more perhaps) than any k16, is allegedly slower than a k16, and like others said, too bloody expensive in doing not many things more than any touring bike. And for the size and weight, the panniers are sportsbike small, which is a major mis-judgement from Honda imo. I really reckon its luggage capacity is a third of the standard bmw triplet bags.
If it was £5k less, or if used prices of 3yo machines fall into the low teens, its worth a look then. But you can always get a 3yo k16 for easily single digit money too. And with Brexit looming, just forget about bikes being cheap in our terms for a good many years..

Well I use a roll bag for touring and it works fine really.

And Sport mode - Bloody Hell !
