Just looking at the rear hub on my GS and its really tatty with the powder coating pealing off.

I could just attack it with a wire brush and some Hammerite silver, but I would rather get the whole thing blasted and repainted. Any recommendations on who can do the job as I think there are some companies that wont touch a GS wheel?

Ta..

Central Wheels in Coleshill. Not cheap, but they can do the whole job including powder coating. Biggest problem is the time taken. They normally need at least a month and sometimes longer.

Hi

Theres a chap in Hillingdon, a retired fire figher.

He did an excellent job on both my Triumphs. Let me know if you want his details and I'll dig them out.

Be interested to know how you get on. Most wheel builders hate bmw xlace wheels. They are usually happy to conventionally lace a tubed 40h rim onto a bmw hub though.

I’ve done a few,
Biggest problem is removing the seized spokes from the rim,
A bad one can take 4 hrs just to strip.
This makes it a loser job before you start, this is why few builders want to do them.
If you strip the thing I’d be happy to sort it.:thumb2
This one is an airhead paralever ,just as much of a bugger:mad:

Hello,
I wondered if you are open to any new work on wheels?
Please feel free to message if yes. I'm looking to refurb the rims and fit SS spokes to my '02 1150GS.
Thanks,
Tom

Make sure the wheel is not pitted because after a year the powder goat paint will peel off happened to me paid £500 Live and learn.

sorry to bring up a old thread.
but can you advise on the best way to remove the spokes from the rim that appear to be seized in?

Cut the spokes with an angle grinder leaving 2” in the rim.
Heat the rim with a hot air gun to @ 120deg around the spoke
Using a small hammer drift the spoke out @ 1”
Get a cordless drill with a keyless Chuck ,grip the head of the spoke, hopefully it will spin out.
Repeat 40 times on each wheel
