Heated Seat Failure ? Is there a track record of this happening much ?

Rider section of heated seat no longer functions . Easy to meter out the seat - it's gone open circuit which simply tells me there is a wire broken / burnt out in there somewhere (ie - it's NOT a supply / switch / connection problem !!)

Even though bike is out of warranty - I plan to write to Mr BMW asking for a replacement (I would like to think that the design life of said component would be a lot longer than 24,000 miles / 3.6 years !!)

Much experience of dead heated seats out there ???

As far as the Wetheads are concerned, I have never heard of a stock one failing. I know of a Sargent seat that failed though.

My 2014 RTLC (now sold) had the weirdest seat heating issues. Initially it was burning hot but after me mentioning it at a service it barely got warm. I never got to the bottom of what the technician did but I put it down to the software that controls how much current is fed to the heating elements. But what do I know... ��
