On every bike I get my first fettle is to get the right weight springs fitted (ahem, 110kg in my gear).

It makes a huge difference, especially if they’re originally set up for 75kg riders.

I'm not Tosser sized... but I'm still well over the stupid 80kg (about 100kg with all gear on).

Saying that, I tend to ride with it set up on two helmets and in general, it seems good... for now.

My ESA suspension on my 2011 GS could do with a re build, and springs for my weight would be good.

Another question on this...

What ages the shock?

I'm guessing usage is mostly responsible, therefore bike mileage will be an indicator (ok you won't necessarily know what kind of miles they were unless you owned the bike from new).

What about age? For example my 2011 TC is now 8yrs old but only coming up to 25k miles. Should age alone warrant a service?

It looks like you have great experience with ESA suspension!! I have a 2014 1200 GSA and the rear suspension is gone. Are you able to assist with refurbishment to save me getting financially violated by BMW?

Had the shock for my 2010 GSA returned 5 days after posting it off, so a really quick turnaround considering that included a weekend as well.
Just been out for my first ride on the new shock. What a difference!! It actually bounces at the rear now....you just don't realise how bad the old one was as it happens so gradually.

This is a great service that Denz0 provides and at a very reasonable cost

Great thread, loving the pictures and info. My shockers are original and the bike has covered over 70k. so, will be getting the Denz0 treatment in the near future i reckon :thumb2
 
A little update with a couple of pictures.
Sorry for not sending anything for that long but very busy lately trying to improve my equipment so I can test more and have some comparison.
Recently I've managed to fix ESA preload motor with Hall sensor fault code.
And I've learned how to test them on the bench.
Installing lots of different springs and finally doing the research and building my own shock dyno which I hope to finish soon. Just having some difficulty with data acquisition software.
Once that is done all the shocks will be dyno tested.

Hi Denz0, someone sent me to this site as I'm in need of a rear ESA shock refurb, tried your number but can't get through, I'll keep trying (assuming I've interpreted it correctly from your post on page 1!).
