Nav 5 and waypoints - Skip waypoints function / button - How?

Resurrecting this - just came across it

So if I have a route with shaping points E.g. a to c via b, my nav 5 won’t try to route me to b after I have gone past it?

Thanks

Providing it's a shaping point - not a waypoint - and it's behind you, then you will (very probably) not get routed back to B.

However, when you miss B you will (logically) have gone off route, in order to have missed it. Depending on:

(i) Where on your route you went off route to miss out B

(ii) How you have your GPS device set-up (Auto-recalulate on or off etc etc etc)

(iii) What alternative roads to C are available, if any

The device MAY bring you back so that you do pass through B, but as in your example it was behind you (in other words, you have been past B) it probably won't.

The absolute certainty is that if B is a waypoint your device WILL keep trying to route you through it irrespective, right up to the moment you instruct the device to 'Skip waypoint'. As soon as you do that the device may well make a recalculation in order to take you to C. How it does that will depend on a number of factors, including…

Your preference settings

What alternative roads are available, if any

What shaping points (if any) you had in your route between B and C

The way to find out how it works for you, is to get out there and find out.....
