I have to put my hand up and admit I know nothing about Triumphs! (Or very little, anyway)
The story of this is that it is 29 years today since a friend of mine (Pete) was killed in a car accident. This bike was his first mode of transport and it has laid unloved for many years. Pete’s brother has just finished restoring it and rode it over to show Pete’s widow this week. I have fond memories of the bike which he rode all over Europe and Africa in the years before his death. In those days it was very tatty and just a work-horse!
I am not a religious man but Pete was. I young curate in the early years of his ministry taken from us on Easter Saturday as he drove to an ecclesiastical gathering.
That dreadful BSA front brake is the giveaway, suggesting it has to be a '72. However tank shape & colour creates a confusion - could it be a bit of a mongrel?
Quite possibly! We are going back to the days of a young man with limited resources who would have probably been quite happy to mess with the bike - as we all did in the those days! Authenticity was not really a word then!
