Anyone Fitted an Electronic Gear Change Solenoid to an R1200RT ?

see https://www.kliktronic.co.uk/

I am planning a 4000 mile trip later this year to Romania and fancy fitting a Kliktronik gear change solenoid to a BMW R1200RT, wondered if anyone has fitted one, if so would greatly appreciate photos of mounting etc, as it seems i would have to cut the faring and fabricate custom brackets, any help greatly appreciated.

I would think you’ll probably find most people who use the klicktronic will have a disability of some sort.

Might be worth googling some disabled biker sites?

(No jokes about this site being the top result!)

A few years ago, I maintained the NABD learner / loaner fleet of 125s.

We had adaptions for left and right arm and leg disabilities.

They are agricultural, and are not quick shifters - the switch gear is not pretty.
It was easy enough to rig one up with 1/4" perforated steel strip picking up on a couple of longer m6 bolts and spacer tubes on a convenient engine casing bolt.

We fitted the kliktronic to donated 125s, so elegance was not a concern.

Learners were advised to always pull in the clutch before shifting, but I know that most riders couldn't be bothered once under way and used the system as a quick shift.

This worked well enough on a 10hp old dog, but I would recommend the addition ignition kill module to minimise any surging when you shift on an RT.

The are ideal for left foot amputees or fused left ankle bone.

Take a look at www.nabd.org.uk
