My insurance broker has now decided it won't cover motorcycles over ten years old.:(

Can anyone point me in the right direction to insure my 21 year old clunker for breakdown/recovery in that Europe.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

try LV/Brittania - I do not think they have any age limit https://www.lv.com/breakdown-cover - join via a union to get a discount
Broker Peter James specialises in old snotters https://www.peterjamesinsurance.co.uk/
Carole Nash sells classic insurance and may have an option

Also look at https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/car-insurance/breakdown-cover/ - they recommend Autoaid and have a referral link for a discount. They give personal cover in the UK and have a linked company https://eurorescue.co.uk/ for a separate Euro policy. I cannot find any age limit in their documents.

If you are using a classic bike, remember that the insurers won’t spend more recovery costs than what they consider to be the value of the bike.
In these cases better to have the bike insured via an agreed value basis

I meant to mention that.

An acquaintance broke down in Germany on an old XT600. He was on his way home after attending the Elefantentreffen. Some electrical component had burned out, damaging the loom so would need new parts and some wiring bodges. He rings Carole Nash breakdown who get him taken to the local bike shop. The bike is assessed and repair costs in a workshop are prohibitive and would take many days as obtaining the parts etc would take time. Owner asks for repatriation which is declined due to the cost exceeding the value of the XT. CN offer trade value for the bike and an Easyjet ticket home. CN have no interest in the "scrapped" bike. Owner does a deal with the German bike shop who is very interested in acquiring the bike as they are very popular. Soft luggage was sent home via DHL and he was taken by taxi to the airport at CN's expense.

Of course, this only worked as he had little emotional attachment to the bike. It was bought to attend the event and then tart up to sell on as he does this for a living as he is a bike journalist that writes restoration reports and was also commissioned to write about the Elefantentreffen. Might be different if CN or similar is asking you to ditch your late dad's beloved, 30 year old VFR as trade value is £700.

Thanks to everyone for their advice. I've now settled on Flux Rescue Breakdown Cover which my broker (Bikesure) added on to my
original multi-bike policy. If only they'd have recommended this on first contact instead of coming out with the 10 year age limit rule.
It came out in conversation when I contacted Bikesure this morning requesting a Green Card. The bod stated Adrian Flux offer European
BD cover as an addition to my policy. I'm now covered for all three of my bike's with a maximum of 90 days cover in Europe irrespective
of the bikes age. Cost of upgrade was £79.
