I've just recently acquired my GS and a Nav VI and after suffering a few issues, the Nav VI was given a factory reset.

Previously, I could use the jog wheel to select a single 'My Motorcycle' view that had the digital speedo readout from the sat nav. That has disappeared since the reset and I cannot see how to retrieve it.

I saw a You Tube video on how to do this with the Nav 5 but I don't see the current speed as one of the 16 views available within My Motorcycle information on the Nav 6 so that vid doesn't help me.

Can anyone tell me how to get this view back please?

If it is new or still under warranty, return to the bod / dealership who sold it to you.

What on God’s green earth persuaded you (or someone else) to perform a full manufacturer’s hard re-set?

The reset was carried out by a Motorrad tech who would appear to be fairly expert with the Nav 6. I have not owned the device from new but it is still under warranty. I acquired it along with the bike. Given that the Nav 6 records data about previous rides and locations visited by the previous owner, I didn't see any real issue with agreeing to allow him to do the reset. He was resolving my issues after all.

What is it about performing a factory reset that should have me reaching for my crucifix? If it's the loss of all historic data then I can understand your comment but that was the point of the exercise.

I do of course have the option of going back to the tech concerned but he is unavailable for a few days and I assumed that it was only a config issue that was so far eluding me and felt sure that someone on here would know as I would have thought it a popular option (I have the analogue clocks not the TFT).

I assume you have fiddled about with the device, using the menus (or whatever they are called) displayed by tapping on the wrench icon?

My Motorcycle:

Displays information about the motorcycle from the LIN Bus connection. Data such as tire pressure, engine temp, speed, voltage, and more can be viewed in real time. The data fields are user configurable using the wrench icon.

Data from this application can also display on the trip computer screen.

Is it just the speed you are missing, ie you can see the other data? Or is everything missing? Do you see anything on the separate trip computer screen?

What ‘few issues’ (other than the previous owner’s guff) did the Nav VI suffer from that prompted the hard reset, conducted by the Motorrad tech bod?

Return to dealership. It’s under warranty. Get a new one, if it’s now not doing all its funky stuff. Simplest is often easiest.

PS Just a thought. After a hard re-set, does the device have to be on the bike and driven around for a few miles before all the ‘My Motorcycle’ malarkey comes fully to life?

PPS Are you sure it’s the device that is FUBAR and not the wonder wheel thing / the device’s interface / connection with the bike?

First of all, thanks very much for the follow up - appreciated.

I spent quite some time looking through menus, pdf docs, you tube videos et al. I thought that something wasn't quite right because speed was not one of the 16 displayed 'My Motorcycle' data items shown on my Nav 6. The You Tube video that I'd seen shows how to rearrange the displayed data items such that you can get a single display of your 4 chosen items and then (by scrolling the wheel) another single display with 2 and then finally a single display with just one item.

I managed to contact the Tech who dealt with my problem and, all credit to him, he knew how to resolve it but I have to say that I think the available documentation leaves a lot to be desired.

Firstly, the doc does not explain how to customise the My Motorcycle display. Second, and most crucially, the doc fails to mention that there are potentially more than 16 data items available for display within the My Motorcycle screen.

What you have to do is customise the 1st display slot on the first row of 4 display slots to be the data item that you want displayed on a single screen. What isn't apparent until you try, is that 'speedo' as a data item is available within the list that you select from but it appears near the bottom of the list and is not included in the default 16 items shown on a brand new unconfigured device or, as in the case with mine, a device which has had a hard reset. I had assumed incorrectly that the 16 data items shown were the only items available for display on the single display.

Thus, you can go on to configure the 2nd data item on the first row of the 16 to be what you want and then items 1 and 2 will appear on the display that shows 2 items. After configuring items 3 and 4 on the first row, the 4 items now on the first row will be the ones shown on the custom display that displays 4 items.

After doing this, when you push the jog wheel sideways to get into the 'My Motorcycle' display, scrolling the jog wheel will then cycle between displaying 1, then 2 then 4 then finally all 16 of the configured items.

In my case, I have speedo as display 1 (showing 1 item), speedo and range as display 2 (showing 2 items) and speedo, range, front psi and rear psi as display 3 (showing 4 items).

So, happy chappy now until I get stuck on my next challenge (which is sending a location that you have found on your phone into the Nav 6 as a destination :) )

Excellent. Good to know that there was nothing wrong with the actual GPS device or the bike.

Thank you for doing the write-up on how to do it. I have cut your ‘How to do it’ post #5 into a thread of its own, not least as it may help others faced with the same challenge. You’ll find it stuck in the Nav VI sub-section.
