Dent 2019

you lot are at it earlier every year. going to be a week long proper festival event before long. think margaret would be ok with us setting up an arena with a few thrash metal bands? maybe some ‘i survived dentfest 2020’ t-shirts ;)

Sounds like a plan,
Deathstars & Rammstein would me my choice for opening and closing the event

twould wake up the dales somewhat lol :)

I suspect I'll wander down on Thursday but not early. Anyone know of a good brew stop after Edinburgh? Last time I found a tea wagon in a layby shortly after leaving the ring road but it was very average.

Nice wee café for a brew and a bacon roll would be good.

not edinburgh but close enough if you’re coming from t’north, bikers cove in south queensferry does a decent breakfast roll and proper mugs of standard coffee. not winning any michelin awards but it’s cheap and always get a blether, loads of bikes and a waterfront setting.

that’s our meeting place for the friday.

How far after Embra? What route are you taking? I tend to take the A7. If you can hang on until Stow, there's a wee caff there https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Resta...d_Gallery-Stow_Scottish_Borders_Scotland.html

Before that, there's Dobbie's, https://www.dobbies.com/find-a-garden-centre/edinburgh just off the by pass en route to A7 (might be busy!) or there's a cafe on the top floor of Craigdon mountain sports just off the by pass at Fairmile. https://www.craigdon-edinburgh.com/

Cheers, I'll find one of them. I went down the A68 last time then across the wee roads to the west, A7 might make a pleasant change

Choices, choices ... Take the A6 and back roads to Orton and Tebay and then over to Dent. Or to Longtown then near Alston, peel off to head for Hartside and pick up the A6 at Penrith. Anything to avoid the M6!

There's a nice cafe on the A7 on the outskirts of Langholme, near a turn off for Newcastleton that I regularly use.

Pelosi's caff in the middle of Langholm also. Park on the pavement outside if there's not too many of you.

I'm likely to be heading for Moffat tomorrow and then the old A74 and A6 after that. The Buccleugh Arms in Moffat does decent coffee and home made biscotti for dunking. The owner is often around for a blether also. An easy bimble down before the rigours of Dent. :D
