ride

I'm still mulling over either the Scottish borders or the Northumberland sea side.
Both rides are quite long and will take all day.
Pace will be steady with a couple of brew stops and a decent lunch stop.
More to follow.

Dent ride.

After a little bit of thought my ride this year will be a tour of the Lake District mountain passes.
All the classics, Hardknot, Wrynose, Honister,Kirkstone etc and if time allows Hartside pass too.
Not a long ride distance wise but still a challenge on some very steep and narrow roads.
You will need a head for hights on this one.
Coffee and lunch and photography stops are also included.
Paul.

The Lakes Passes.
As in the ride out thread, I plan to leave at 09,45 from the main gate. My bike (Black 1200 GSA)will be parked very near to the shower block
and I'll put a sign on the screen.
Don't be put off by the traffic worries, yes it can get a bit busy but I'm bringing a mate who is a Lakes local
and knows the back roads better than anybody else I know.
Just need this weather to hold up.

Do you know of the tea room/farm shop on the Hornister pass? I think it is at Buttermere. Wonder if they still do that Italian ice cream.

New Ride.

In place of the Lakes ride.
I'm calling it the Northern Counties Ride.
Using some great roads we will visit, in no particular order,
Yorkshire, Cumbria, County Durham, Teasdale and Northumberland.
It's a great route that can if you wish include some real nice and really easy
novice friendly off road over Blanchland fell and in Kielder forrest.
Some of the roads are remote single lane, some fast and twisty and maybe a ford or two.
As before I will be parked up near the shower block with a sign on my bike
and still aiming to be away by 09.45.

Paul.

Wouldn’t mind joining in on this one if it’s not too busy already. And I’m not too hung over!
