An upcoming trip supposedly on 1200GS's has turned into a trip with a few trails thrown in for good measure so the 310 needed fettling for touring...
I would have liked to use a softbag on the rear rack but decided something with a bit of security would be good..
Apparently the Vario box for a GS LC fits straight onto the rear rack on the 310
I haven't got a LC Vario box but I do have one of the previous generation Vario boxes so today's task as to make an adaptor to fasten the black plastic mounting plate onto. A straight piece of 1.5 mm thick mild steel ( ex gas meter mounting plate) was perfect for the job.
Easy enough job as the rack has four mounting holes with hex shapes cast into the underside to hold an M6 nut. It just needed a couple of washers to space out the two pieces and leave enough room for the nuts on the underside of the plastic plate.
Happy with the results-- I initially thought the box would look too big on the 310 but it seems fairly well proportioned.
Next job...make a 1200LC tankbag fit onto the 310..
