Nav 6 with sena smh5-fm

Hi all, I recently upgraded from a Nav v to a Nav vi, my sena smh5-fm connected easily enough and plays music but doesn’t give sound on any routes. I checked everything I could and even called garmin who were no help but to send a list of headsets BMW say are compatible and to contact them.

Anyway, from what I can make out my headset is a Bluetooth 3 and you need Bluetooth 4.2, so my question is has anyone got a Bluetooth 3 headset to work with a Nav vi or am I going to need to buy a new one or just ride a route in silence

Any advice appreciated even those who want to take the piss

I was looking at a Nav6,

And like you had a Sena SMH5

My Zumo 550 &BMW Nav IV connected to the Sat units


550 Audio & nav (mono audio)

Nav iV audio & Nav, but audio has to come from Nav unit, it was one or the other when giving spoken instructions, i couldnt work out the mixer function.


I toyed with getting a Nav Vi, but saw you needed BT 4.0 accross devices for full functionality so sold the SMH5 and bought a 30K

Didnt get the Nav Vi in the end, as i went tablet
