I'll get around to wiring it in at some point soon, and hopefully a bit of luxury ass for those cold winter mornings :D

Nice

So... where to put the On/Off switch.

Decided not to strap it to the frame with cable ties, as that looks naff.....

Decided not to drill holes in the expensive bodywork panels.... as that's not easily or cheaply reversed.

So decided to stick the switch on the left hand side of the bike, so I can operate it within hand range.

Found this small panel, with space behind it, drilled a 20mm hole and fitted it there :D

Looks Ok I thought....

.... and nicely within range, without a red light being a distraction :D

It's pretty well protected from water spray and rain as my legs will be covering it....

... and it's on the left hand side so I'll be able to see it illuminated as I get off the bike, if I forget to turn it off.

Eventually I'll set it up on the Hex ExCan accessory wiring.

Great job!
Does it fit nicely with the stock passenger seat?
/J

Don't know sorry... I've removed the pillion seat and have a pillion plate cover bolted in.... so can't easily check

In the instructions from Wunderlich, it says that you are not to sleep on your seat?? WTF...

... and not to have it turned on for longer than 1 hour !!

So warm bottom will go cold after 1 hour? WTF

this looks good - I'm tempted with the unheated seat myself - but I'm curious about the affect on overall seat height?

I understand that this seat is based on the regular GS seat and not the GSA seat - but the std GSA seat is (approx.20mm) higher than a std GS seat - is this correct?

What seat height setting do you have the wunderlich seat at and if this is the same as you had the STD seat fitted, has it made a difference to the overall seat height?

thanks

I'm 5' 10" tall with 32" leg inseam and 14 Stone. Mr Average I think.

My GSA is standard height.

My GSA Seat frame is set at Low front. Which I think is standard Showroom setting.

In this setting I've found the GSA Seat to be very comfortable, except on long rides out I end up sat at the front of the seat all the time.

I tried the GSA Seat frame at high front position, which stopped me sitting on the front part of the seat, and on long journeys was very comfortable. BUT... the ride height was then too high and I was on tiptoes... and uncomfortable on uneven ground. So I put it back to low position.

...... the new Wunderlich Seat is 20mm lower, but honestly I wouldn't have guessed just by sitting on it. So the 'lower' bit must be at the back of the seat... which is the part I never used as I always slid forward.

It seems flatter, rather than sloping forward like the GSA Seat did and maybe I'll notice it more once I've been out on it.

I don't know how comfortable it'll be yet as I haven't been out yet.

Quality-wise, it's very nice to look at on the bike. Looks premium and well suited to the GSA.

I'll be doing about 1000 miles on it in the next week or so, which will give me a better opinion of it afterwards.

This'll sound weird...

But it feels like a quality saddle, rather than a spongy seat....

So we'll see....

Which pillion plate cover and bag do you have?
Have you got any pics of the bag?

It's the Kriega OS-18 soft luggage bag and the Cymark Stainless Steel pillion plate (that I had powdercoated black)

If anyone ever tells you these Wunderlich Seats are comfortable on long journeys... punch them in the teeth, and say it's from Warlord.

oh - that's not good...

worse than the std seat?

Well, I dont know what that means any more. As they're all different.

I had the BMW GSA Triple Black Seat. Which is supposed to be their most comfortable seat....

I would describe that as a padded soft seat.

This Wunderlich Seat I would describe as a saddle.

After 8 hours sat on it, my arse had felt like it'd been to the Headmasters Office and my lower back was sore.

But, weirdly... the next two days, 5 hours on it was ok.

The forth day, 8 hours was better so it must be bedding in... but it isn't soft or spongy. It's like a horse saddle, and after a few hours it'll leave you fidgeting.

I'm going to stick with it, because I seem to be adapting TO IT, rather than the other way round.
