Thoughts on my recent trip tp North Spain and Portugal

On a technical point, I very much doubt UK Customs searched you on the way out. I think it was probably the port/ferry staff carrying out security searches.

I have been asked to go into the customs lane on multiple occasions, mostly at Portsmouth but once at Plymouth. Never when overseas by foreign officials and never on the bike at the Tunnel. I did get interviewed at Dover in the car coming home but the thing was well stocked with booze!

They are genuine customs officers. I do not think port officials have the right to search a vehicle as this needs a warrant, which of course a customs officer has by default.

Got tugged for a search on way out of Hull.
Told her I ha a knofe and a container of white powder.


Got the all clear for the Swiss Army utility and the can of coffee mate.

No problems
