Hi, thinking of getting one of the scissor jacks, for work on a Dr650, so not that heavy, are the ebays ones that are about £35 any good, as the eBay link above no longer works, more worried about stability,

Thanks,

Don.

They are all the same, stability is good if it’s on a flat surface, and the underneath of the bike is flat, otherwise it’s crap, unless you can chock it either side so it’s stable.

I use one on mine and they are very stable just dump the two black pieces and use the platform under the sump i.e. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/500KG-Mo...885506?hash=item23aa7898c2:g:OAwAAOSwsTxXjGl5

Never had an issue with the spanner ?

When the jack is flat, and you have a block of wood to prevent damage on the topunder the sump, the mechanical advantage of the screw is at its worst, if your lifting a heavy bike, you neither want to fiddle sliding the little bar to maximise the leverage every half turn, or put a lot of effort in lifting the bike, with a racket, you can lift the bike, whilst holding the bike steady with one hand, it’s safer and easier,

But you continue how you like to do it, if it works for you,

When you end up using it several times a day, you tend to want it to work the safest and easiest way.

A ratchet is both longer and doesn’t need to spin 360 degrees
