Seems it works pretty much worldwide. You get 5 free maps then pay for more. But it’s very detailed as shown here depicting a small part of Brittany

It works offline and you can plan then navigate routes on it but that’s about as far as I’ve got so far.
 
There’s now a plethora of these Open Street Map routing and general map based app’s. What’s vaguely interesting about the OSMAnd app, is that they start to show how the routing calculation algorithms work, if anyone wants to start to write their own killer ‘By biker, for bikers’ routing software.
 
And including, I'd say, is the algorithmic differences between the likes of maps from Garmin themselves.
I'm 99.99% certain - or pretty certain ;) - that there are different algorithms between the different Garmin models, their respective maps, and even mapsets released for the same Garmin model.
