Yes, you can probably see that I’ve separated the small EWS ‘harness’ (4 wires) and threaded them towards the fuel tank for easier access and repair.
As I knew where to look, thanks to Santa of this parish, the whole job took about two and half hours.
You need various hand tools, torx screwdrivers, Allen’s, soldering iron, solder etc, wire, heat shrink tube and hot air gun, oh and a scalpel to get the harness tape off carefully. Replacement tape and cable ties.
No more ‘right hand lock’ and crosses fingers..!

yeah, that's where i had a small split in secondary sheathing. retaped it while tank off. to access it you need tank off as well as plastic ignition shroud. then, like you say, you can feed connectors back under headstock
